Sweet, sweet revenge.
Arkansas basketball earned a little payback on Saturday with perhaps its best win of the season to date. The Razorbacks, fueled by a 24-point, 10-rebound double-double from Trevon Brazile, took down No. 16 Texas Tech 93-86. Arkansas’s win comes after the Hogs lost in heartbreaking fashion to the Red Raiders during last season’s Sweet 16 run.
Brazile absolutely took over this game for the Razorbacks, who trailed Grant McCasland’s squad early. The senior forward scored 18 points in the second half to bring Arkansas back from down 10 after the first 15 minutes of play. In total, Arkansas scored 50 points across the final 20 minutes, outscoring Texas Tech 50-37.
Razorbacks head coach John Calipari was very complimentary of his star big man on Saturday. “You’re looking at a different Trevon Brazile,” Calipari said on the ESPN broadcast. “He’s one of the best players in the country, he impacts the game in so many ways.”
And while Brazile deserves his flowers for his role in Arkansas’s win on Saturday, Darius Acuff and Karter Knox were excellent as well. Both scored 20 points, with Acuff adding 8 assists and Knox contributing an all-around effort with 6 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocks. Knox’s strong defense in the second half played a major role in turning the tide.
Arkansas’s tough non-conference slate isn’t over quite yet. Next Saturday, the Razorbacks are slated to face Houston on a neutral court.
