Asa Newell, 5-star 2024 power forward, announces SEC commitment

Asa Newell has found a home in the SEC.
The standout forward, a top-10 overall prospect, has verbally pledged to play for Mike White’s Georgia Bulldogs. Newell revealed his decision in a public ceremony Wednesday.

A standout of Montverde (Florida) Academy, Newell is listed as measuring 6-9 and 205 pounds. On the 247Sports Composite, Newell is rated 5-stars, the No. 2 power forward and No. 8 player overall in the Class of 2024.
Newell picked up scholarship offers from 18 programs during his recruitment. In September he narrowed things down to final 4 of Georgia, Alabama, Texas and Gonzaga.
White got Newell on campus for a recent visit. Newell documented the trip on social media, sharing a preview of how he’ll look rocking Georgia’s white home jersey, and proof he met Kirby Smart.
