Auburn suffered a big loss to the transfer portal on Monday as star receiver Cam Coleman has reportedly decided to play elsewhere in 2026.

Coleman was a 5-star prospect when Hugh Freeze signed him back in the class of 2024. But after 2 successful seasons at Auburn, Coleman has decided to move on.

Last season, Coleman caught 56 passes for 708 yards and 8 touchdowns. Even as Auburn’s quarterback play wavered, Coleman was one of the most productive receivers in the SEC during his sophomore campaign.

For Alex Golesh, failing to keep Coleman in the fold for 2026 is certainly a bitter disappointment. Coleman was poised to be Auburn’s top offensive weapon next fall and one of the very best players in the SEC.

Instead, it’s possible — or even likely — that Auburn will have to face Coleman on the other side at some point next season.

Auburn does have a couple of other potential stars at receiver in Eric Singleton Jr. and Malcolm Simmons. Both players are eligible to return in 2026. However, it’s unclear if the Tigers will be able to bring either back next season.

Soon after Coleman’s announcement was made, Auburn fans took to social media to voice their frustrations:
