Auburn picked up a major in-state commitment along the defensive line. 4-star defensive lineman Donivan Moore announced his commitment to Auburn via social media on Thursday.
“All glory to God,” Moore said. “I’m staying home. War Damn Eagle.”
The 6-foot-4, 270-pound Moore is regarded by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 1 in-state prospect and the No.5 defensive lineman in the country. Moore went with Auburn as opposed to his other finalists of Alabama, Ole Miss, Texas, Ohio State, and LSU.
Moore is confident that new Auburn head coach Alex Golesh will revitalize the program. That’s why Moore wanted to go to Auburn to do his part.
“What made Auburn right for me was the connection,” Moore said via Yahoo Sports. “Once Coach Golesh got there I felt a different vibe and things were going the right way. I feel like it’s going to be a very special year. He’s going to get the program back to where it needs to be and how it used to be.”
Auburn is coming off a 5-7 season in which the program fired Hugh Freeze. The Golesh era will kick off with a neutral site matchup vs. Baylor in Atlanta on Sept. 5.
