Auburn sweeps SEC men’s basketball Player of the Week honors

After Auburn’s impressive win over Indiana over the weekend, 2 of the Tigers’ playmakers garnered this week’s SEC Player of the Week honors.

Graduate senior forward Jaylin Williams was named the SEC Player of the Week, while young guard Aden Holloway received the Freshman of the Week nod.

Williams and Holloway played big roles in Auburn scoring 104 points in its win over the Hoosiers Saturday at the Holiday Hoopsgiving at State Farm Arena in Atlanta.

For Williams, he had 24 points, 7 assists, 6 rebounds a block and a steal for the Tigers. He shot 8-of-14 from the field, including 2-of-4 from 3-point range. Williams’ performance recorded a 5th-career game with 2o-or-more points.

In 8 games so far this season, Williams is averaging 9.8 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.

As for Holloway, he also racked up 24 points for Auburn. The freshman’s scoring broke down shooting 7-of-11 from the floor, 5-of-8 from beyond the arc and 5-of-5 from the free-throw line.

Holloway is averaging 12.3 points and 3.1 assists per game so far for the Tigers.

The Tigers (6-2) scored 52 points apiece in the 2 halves against Indiana (7-2). Senior K.D. Johnson (14 points), junior Chad Baker-Mazara (11 points) and sophomore Tre Donaldson (10 points) also scored in double figures for Auburn.

Auburn faces UNC-Asheville on Wednesday at 8 p.m.
