Austin Simmons cracks top 10 of Mel Kiper’s 2027 NFL Draft Big Board

Mel Kiper recently dropped the latest edition of his 2027 NFL Draft Big Board and there’s an intriguing SEC quarterback in the top 10. Missouri quarterback Austin Simmons checks in at No. 10 on the list.
The Ole Miss transfer will take on his old squad on Saturday. He’s off to a sensational start with the Tigers. Simmons has amassed 1,434 yards and 14 touchdowns with just 1 interception.
Kiper is super high on Simmons’ arm.
“This might be a little bit of a surprise to some folks, but go watch the tape,” Kiper said. “There is no better thrower of the football in the collegiate ranks right now than this young lefty — he’s a pure passer. Simmons can sling it with the best of them — the ball explodes out of his hands. But he’s also very accurate and mixes in good touch with all that velocity.”
Kiper also mentioned the one drawback that could affect his draft stock.
“His experience is still going to be pretty light by the end of the season, and that might scare some NFL teams,” Kiper said. “There’s a chance Simmons returns to school for another year, but he deserves to be here on the Big Board because of his outstanding skill set and high ceiling.”
Simmons will get another major chance to impress NFL gurus vs. the Rebels. Missouri at Ole Miss is set for a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff (SEC Network).
