Gunner Stockton and the Georgia Bulldogs were up 24-20 late in the game with a third-and-short inside the Florida 10-yard line. Stockton kept the ball in his hands, got the first down and had a chance to score a touchdown.

However, he decided to fall down at the one-yard line, which allowed the Bulldogs to kneel the ball out for the final score being 24-20.

That decision secured Georgia’s victory over the Gators. However, it also had a significant impact on the betting markets. A touchdown would have likely resulted in Georgia covering the spread for this game, which closed at 7 points. The total for this game — 50 points — also hung in the balance based on the outcome of this Georgia drive.

Here’s a clip of Stockton taking a knee at the 1-yard line to keep it a 24-20 game:

For Stockton and the rest of the Bulldogs, all that mattered was the fact that they got the victory. Georgia has struggled in the first half in many games this year, and Saturday was no different. The score was tied at 10 at the half, and the Gators took a 17-10 lead in the third quarter.

However, the Bulldogs made the big play, as Chauncey Bowens scored on a 36-yard run late to give Georgia the win.

At 7-1, the Bulldogs are in great shape to compete for an SEC title, as well as making it to the College Football Playoff. Up next for Georgia is a road trip to Starkville to take on Mississippi State next weekend.
