Three-time national champion Barry Switzer isn’t buying the narrative that Steve Spurrier’s lost a step due to his age.

It’s a talent issue at South Carolina.

โ€œAge has nothing to do with anything,โ€ Switzer said, according to SEC Country. โ€œHis age has nothing to do with him getting his ass beat a couple of days ago (by Kentucky).โ€

Switzer was the guest speaker at Monday’s Atlanta Touchdown Club meeting and says despite his own age (77), he could win games as a head coach. The former Arkansas standout built a dynasty at Oklahoma before winning Super Bowl XXX with the Dallas Cowboys.

โ€œHell yeah, I can still coach,โ€ Switzer said to SEC Country. โ€œI can recruit players and evaluate talent, still. If I had a good product like I did at Oklahoma, I can still recruit and coach with no problem. The only thing that may change is I may use a golf cart more to get around now.โ€
