Bills DT Marcell Dareus didn’t go to rehab but has ‘better stucture’ in his life
With a four-game suspension for violation of the league’s substance-abuse policy in the books, defensive tackle Marcell Dareus has returned to the Buffalo Bills and is ready to get back on track with “better structure” in his life.
That’s even without rehab, which he apparently did not attend as expected. In a statement released through the Bills in August, Dareus said he “made the decision to enter a rehabilitation facility” after the NFL came down on him with the suspension.
Instead, the former Crimson Tide lineman met with a variety of professionals about his issues that have led to two suspensions in as many years, and they believe that he needs to put a bigger focus on his attention deficit hyperactive disorder in order to prevent anything like this from happening again. Listed among those professionals was an ADHD specialist and a life coach that helped Dareus get through a difficult time.
“I really feel like I learned a lot,” Dareus said, according to USA TODAY. “I received help to support me. …It’s a living course of action that’s still ongoing.”
In five NFL seasons and 75 career starts, Dareus has racked up 177 tackles and 30.5 sacks.
