Billy Napier leads James Madison to program-record 87 points in blowout win over Wagner

Billy Napier was let go as the Florida coach last season, but he wasn’t out of a job for long as he became the new coach at James Madison after Bob Chesney left for UCLA. The Dukes made it to the College Football Playoff last year and were 1-0 entering Saturday’s game against Wagner.
Not only did they move to 2-0, but the Dukes set a school record for points in the 87-3 win against the Seahawks.
The Dukes got the scoring early, as they blocked a punt and Miles Halbert returned it for a touchdown. Running back Nick Herman (3 touchdowns) and George Pettaway (2) helped the Dukes pull away for the big win.
While it didn’t work out at Florida for Napier, he has shown in his career that he can coach at a high level. James Madison has been a great program the last few years, despite Curt Cignetti and Chesney leaving and leaving for different jobs.
The schedule gets tougher for the Dukes next week as they hit the road to take on San Diego State. Kickoff in that game will be at 10 p.m. ET, and the game will be on the CW.
