South Carolina closing in on a hire? Rumored candidate out of the running

South Carolina may be closing in on its next head coach.
Earlier Saturday, it was reported that Oklahoma’s Shane Beamer, Louisiana’s Billy Napier and Louisville Scott Satterfield were the top 3 candidates, with Beamer leading the trio. Later Saturday, Satterfield said that he would stay at Louisville.
Now, Sports Illustrated’s Ross Dellenger is reporting that Napier has informed Louisiana that he’s staying at the school and not leaving for the Gamecocks’ job.
Napier was scheduled to meet with South Carolina again Saturday, and it appears that he’s staying put at Louisiana.
So, now, attention turns to the former Gamecocks assistant and current Oklahoma assistant Beamer. South Carolina would like to have the coaching search finalized by Sunday, per reports.
Right now, all indications point to Beamer being the guy.
