Sun Belt Billy Napier just keeps rolling along.

James Madison rolled Georgia State on Saturday, improving to 7-0 with a 49-22 win over the Panthers. Through Week 7, the Dukes are now the only 7-0 team in FBS football and one of just 6 undefeated teams. Other undefeated programs include the following: BYU, Miami, Texas Tech, UCLA and Utah.

Saturday’s win for JMU also kept Napier’s Sun Belt conference streak alive. The former Florida coach has won 19 straight Sun Belt conference games dating back to his time at Louisiana before he departed for Gainesville. His last loss against a Sun Belt program came on October 14, 2020 to Jamey Chadwell’s Coastal Carolina squad.

Of course, Florida fans probably shouldn’t be too moved by this influx of success from Napier. Jon Sumrall has posted a pretty impressive first season to this point, too.

The new Gators head coach just led Florida to an upset win over No. 7 Texas, benefitting from a great performance by first-time starter Tramell Jones Jr. With that win, the Gators are now 5-2 heading into the bye week ahead of Week 9’s Cocktail Party matchup against Georgia.
