Brendan Sorsby, LSU QB transfer target, reportedly sets timeline for final decision
Brendan Sorsby told coaches at LSU and Texas Tech that he’ll be making his decision Sunday night on his collegiate destination for 2026, according to a report on Sunday night by ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
Sorsby, the Cincinnati transfer quarterback who is a prime target of LSU’s, took a visit to LSU on Sunday and was leaving that visit on Sunday night as Thamel reported Sorsby’s timeline for his decision.
The 6-foot-3, 235-pounder is the No. 1 player in the current transfer portal rankings, according to Max Olson, who covers the portal for ESPN. LSU wants Sorsby badly for the 2026 season to pair with new head coach Lane Kiffin, and according to Thamel the Tigers will know very soon if Sorsby is theirs going forward.
The junior and Denton, Texas, native threw for a whopping 2,800 yards this season for the Bearcats, throwing 27 touchdown passes and being intercepted just 5 times. His season QBR was a lofty 81.5, and these are the kinds of numbers that Kiffin is desperately trying to grab hold of as he puts together his first roster in Baton Rouge.
Sorsby also showed his ability to hurt defenses with his legs in 2025, rushing for 580 yards and 9 touchdowns.
He moves fast on the football field, and apparently Sorsby will be moving fast in his decision on 2026, according to Thamel.
LSU is awaiting that decision anxiously.
