Arkansas got its first SEC win of the season last week in dramatic fashion thanks to an epic comeback on the road at Ole Miss. Now, what can the Razorbacks do with the momentum? Coastal Carolina should be an easy win for the Razorbacks before hitting the road for LSU next weekend.
Bielema spoke Wednesday during the SEC Coaches Teleconference.
Here’s a summary of what the Arkansas coach had to say:
- Opening statement: “Excited about our win at Ole Miss. Did a good job of bouncing back after a tough start… Hope to carry that over to Coastal Carolina.”
- During comeback, did you feel that the units played off each other? “As a coach, you talk about it. When all three units play together. Santos Ramirez stripe was big… We needed a game-winning field goal. He kicked four straight there… When the offense is up, the defense being engaged, when the defense is up, the offense is engaged… It’s exciting.”
- Austin Allen update? “Threw quite a bit yesterday. Did not go thru the whole practice. Met with the trainers today and had no setbacks… He’s working his way back to the field, whether it’s this week or next.”
- Is the pressure of the SEC more than anywhere else you’ve been? “Absolutely, we feel it the least as coaches. I never watch TV, read a paper or listen to the radio. I lean on people that work (in media). I ask if there’s anything I need to be aware of… Nothing of that magnitude affects our preparation. As coaches, it’s really easy not to be affected. Coaches’ families may be a bit different… It’s really a non-factor… Same with when things are going well. Coaches with teams in the Playoff rankings are now saying avoid the noise.”
- Status of Josh Harris? “He traveled with us last week. I don’t believe he got in the game. I think he’s on three of four of our core special teams. He will play Saturday.”
