Brian Kelly had some injury news to share regarding one of LSU‘s wide receivers following its Week 1 win over Clemson.

Destyn Hill made his debut with the team on Saturday after 2 seasons at Florida State, missing all of 2024 for the Seminoles due to an ACL tear. On Tuesday, Kelly announced that Hill had suffered a fractured hand against Clemson that needed a plate put in it during a surgical procedure, according to The Advocate’s Koki Riley.

Fortunately, the injury isn’t long-term. Hill is initially set to only sideline him for LSU’s Week 2 game against Louisiana Tech.

Hill saw relatively limited time on the field for Florida State in 2023. The former 4-star recruit and Top 20 WR signed out of the 2021 class but didn’t enroll until 2023 due to what FSU deemed “personal issues.” In 2023, he played in 10 games, making 6 catches for 87 yards,

During spring sessions in 2024, though, Hill tore his ACL, which kept him off the field the entire season. The New Orleans native opted to enter the transfer portal and decided to continue his college career close to home at LSU.

Brian Kelly‘s team looks to improve to 2-0 following its 17-10 victory over Clemson, a rematch of the 2020 College Football Playoff national championship game. Kickoff against La. Tech in Week 2 is set for Sept. 6 at 7:30 p.m.
