Brian Kelly highlights Sage Ryan’s strengths, shares injury update on LSU CB
Brian Kelly spoke to the media on Tuesday. One player that he mentioned was LSU CB Sage Ryan.
Ryan has been dealing with a shoulder injury as of late, but practiced with the team on Tuesday. Kelly had a lot of nice things to say about Ryan and what the Tigers corner brings to the position.
One of things Kelly noted about Ryan had to do with speed.
“He has elite speed. He’s a guy that can run in the high 21 range. He’s got the skill to have the kind of speed to play out there. The second thing, experience at that cornerback position. That’s the one area that we’re calling for experience. The third, I think he’s a pretty smart football player. So he puts himself in a pretty good position. One thing that we’re really concerned about is making sure we’re tackling the football. Sage has been a really steady tackler for us. He brings a lot of those traits to the position.”
Ryan appeared in 14 games last season. He accounted for 23 total tackles, 1 pass deflection, and 2 fumble recoveries.
LSU will be looking for revenge against Florida State on Sept. 3. Last season, the Tigers lost by one point.
Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
