Former Notre Dame and LSU head coach Brian Kelly is taking his football knowledge to the studio this fall, as he made his broadcast debut while calling the Jacksonville State-North Dakota State game last weekend.
Kelly then joined the “Inside College Football” crew on Wednesday to make some final predictions before the 2026 season kicks off, and one of the former coach’s takes involves the SEC’s national-title drought extending to four seasons.
Leading off the roundtable of selections, Kelly tabbed Ohio State as his pick to claim the sport’s higher honor come January.
“I’m putting my stock on Ohio State,” Kelly said. “Their veteran quarterback is coming back, I love their defensive coordinator, Matt Patricia, and I just think they’re a seasoned team that’s been there, done that.”

After placing emphasis on the Buckeyes’ experience, Kelly also shared his belief in OSU’s ability to play at its best deep in the campaign and how that trait can lift it above other contenders.
“And they play really well later in the season,” Kelly said. “We saw how they ran the table when they won their national championship a couple years ago.”
With a Week 2 showdown in Austin looming, Ohio State will kick off its season by hosting Ball State at 12:30 ET on Saturday. The game will be broadcast by the Big Ten Network.
