With Week 1 of the college football season finally here, many analysts and prominent media figures are starting to get their final predictions in for who they believe will make the year’s College Football Playoff field.

Among this group is The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman, who dropped his picks for who he believes will ultimately end up making the 12-team field at the end of the regular season.

Feldman has four SEC programs making the field in his bracket, with the Texas Longhorns and Alabama Crimson Tide both receiving first-round byes as the second and fourth-seeds.

He also has the LSU Tigers making it in as the sixth seed, and the Georgia Bulldogs rounding things out for the SEC as the eighth seed.

Feldman’s bracket mirrors that of many other prominent analysts in that SEC is the most represented conference in the field with four teams, while other big-time programs such as Penn State, Clemson, and Ohio State also find their way into the field as well.

Preseason projections are always interesting to look at and debate, but the only thing that counts once the season finally starts is what the teams do on the field.

It will be interesting to see how Feldman’s predictions end up faring once things are all said and done, and which team he ultimately ends up being high and low on in his bracket.
