Bruce Pearl, the recently retired Auburn basketball coach, decided to take a road trip to support the Auburn football team an SEC showdown against Texas A&M at Kyle Field.

Pearl, who announced his retirement from college basketball just last week, has spent nearly 50 years in coaching, transforming Auburn into a national powerhouse with two Final Fours and three SEC regular-season titles over his 11-year tenure with the Tigers.

Pearl, 65, leaves Auburn with a career record of 694-270 (.720) and immediately transitioned into an ambassador role within the school’s athletic department, remaining close to the program he helped elevate. His son, Steven Pearl, who was promoted to Auburn’s associate head coach, has now taken over the basketball program, inheriting the culture his father built.

At Kyle Field, Pearl was all smiles, mingling with fans and soaking in the atmosphere as the Aggies and Tigers prepared for battle. For Pearl, it was a chance to take in a big game without having to worry about gearing up for the basketball season.

Meanwhile, Texas A&M, fresh off a thrilling last-second win at Notre Dame, looks to keep momentum against an Auburn team reeling from a close loss at Oklahoma.

Tigers fans hope that Pearl’s presence will help light a fire under the football team today.
