Roughly a week after joining Bryan Harsin’s Auburn squad, Demetris Robertson played his first scrimmage as a Tiger.

The Georgia transfer, a former 5-star recruit, is one of the most talked-about players on the AU offense because of his background. Harsin was asked about how Robertson looked on Saturday.

“He was good tonight,” Harsin told reporters. “I think he had several catches in there. There was one over the middle. He can roll. There was one he got the chance to catch and run with.

“He’s picked things up well offensively. He’s been studying. He’s spent time each evening going back over his notes and preparing himself. I thought it might have taken him a little more time to pick things up, but he’s excelled in the last few days especially. He’s showed up on a few of our practice tapes. We’ve pulled some things out, some highlights from practice, and he’s been on there a couple of times and did some good things tonight as well. We’ve got to keep working him in. He’s probably not as multiple as he could be right now, but as he’s progressing and now we’ve watched him go out there and scrimmage and get live work we can use him in some other positions because I do think he’s picked things up pretty well.”

Robertson appeared in 32 games for UGA over the past three seasons. He did not register a catch in 2018 but logged 42 receptions for 443 yards and 3 touchdowns the past two seasons. The TD catches came in the 2019 campaign. Robertson had a rushing score in 2018.

At Cal, Robertson had 50 catches for 767 yards and 7 touchdowns as a true freshman in 2016. The following year, he had 7 catches for 70 yards.
