Bryce Young adds ESPY Award to hardware haul for 2021 season

Bryce Young has added ESPY Award winner to his long list of honors for the 2021 season. Wednesday evening, the Alabama quarterback was named Best College Athlete, Men’s Sports as part of the ESPN awards show.
As a first-year starter, Young set the Alabama single-season marks for passing yards (4,872) and touchdowns (47). Young picked up numerous awards for guiding the Crimson Tide to an SEC Championship and a College Football Playoff appearance, including the Heisman Trophy, Player of the Year by the Associated Press and The Sporting News, the Maxwell Award, the Davey O’Brien Award and the Manning Award. Young was named the SEC Offensive Player of the Year and a consensus first-team All-American (Football Writers Association of America, Sporting News, AP).
At SEC Media Days, Young said that he enters the 2022 season most focused on winning team titles.
“The goal isn’t ever anything about individual awards or accolades,” Young said, per Bama OnLine. “For me, it’s all about trying to go and win the championship, and that’s the goal that we have every year. That’s what I’m the most focused on, that’s the only thing that matters to me. And the one thing that I love about Alabama, one of the reasons I chose Alabama and I’m happy I’m here is because all you have to do is focus on the team.
“When you focus on the team and the team has success, in whatever capacity it may be, the goals you set out, those come into fruition, too. So for me, it’s all about winning a championship and finishing what we failed to finish last year. That’s all I’m focused on.”
