Running backs coach Bryan McClendon has five scholarship tailbacks on the roster heading into week one versus Clemson, including Heisman candidate Todd Gurley and freshmen sensations Nick Chubb and Sony Michel.

Chubb and Michel were highly regarded upon arrival in Athens, both five-star recruits.  The two have impressed thus far in practice and will provide viable options behind Gurley, Keith Marshall and sophomore Brendan Douglas.

According to offensive coordinator Mike Bobo, Chubb and Michel have impressed coaches.

“They seem like they’re picking up things very well,” Bobo told the Athens Banner-Herald.

As for the depth chart, head coach Mark Richt reminded reporters of the three guys in front of them.

“Right now, on the depth chart, we’ve got three guys in front of them,” Richt told Macon.com.
