Buzz Williams spoke at a press conference on Tuesday about Texas A&M hoops’ upcoming NCAA Tournament meeting with Penn State. Williams answered a number of questions about the game.

Williams will be competing in his first NCAA Tournament since taking over at College Station in 2019. When asked about what that will be like, Williams stated that he is more so focusing on what it means for the entire team.

“Really happy for all of us. It’s the greatest tournament in any sporting event in my opinion,” said Williams. “I don’t really think of it for myself, I know I have a part. Just for everybody, it’s really cool.”

Williams admitted that there is a level of uncertainty that comes with facing a team you haven’t seen before like with Penn State.

“This is the first time that we’ve played a team that we don’t know about since late December. There’s a newness of: ‘I don’t know you and what ever I’ve learned was in a very short period of time.’ We use the words discipline and stamina in our program. There’s a level of mental stamina or toughness that for sure comes into play.”

The Aggies and Nittany Lions face each other Thursday at 9:55 p.m. ET on TBS.
