It was believed that Alabama cornerback Nigel Knott’s football career was over. That’s what Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban announced earlier this season, citing medical concerns for Knott.

However, Knott shared encouraging news on Monday.

Knott took to Twitter to announce that he has been cleared to continue playing football:

Knott is still enrolled at Alabama, so perhaps he could be back on the field for the Crimson Tide next season. It’s unclear what Knott may be thinking for his future, but either way, it’s a positive first step that he was even cleared to play again after it appeared that his football days were behind him.

In 2018, Knott played in 10 games for Alabama. He recorded his first career tackle in a game against Arkansas on Oct. 6 of that year. He redshirted in his first year with the Crimson Tide in 2016 and only saw limited action in 2017.

Although Knott didn’t play much, Alabama won a pair of SEC championships and a national title during his three years on its roster.

It will be exciting to see where Knott’s newly rejuvenated football career goes from here.
