CBS Sports analyst Randy Cross has watched the Vanderbilt Commodores this season, and he is buying the hype of the team. Led by quarterback Diego Pavia, the Commodores are entering the Week 6 matchup against Alabama undefeated.

On Tuesday night, Cross made a prediction that may shock many college football fans, as he believes the Commodores will be in the College Football Playoff.

“I’ve got some sprinkling of different,” Cross said when he released his bracket. “I’ve got Vanderbilt in the top 5. I love the things that they are doing.”

Saturday’s matchup against Alabama is arguably the biggest game in the history of the program. Getting the upset was huge, but going into Tuscaloosa and getting a victory would put the team on a level that it has never been.

Diego Pavia has backed up last season’s great performance and is off to an even better start this year. He has thrown for 1,211 yards, 13 touchdowns and only 3 interceptions. Pavia continues to be a threat with his legs, as he has rushed for 294 yards and 2 touchdowns.

If Pavia is able to go out and get the win, then he may start to have a lot more in common with Johnny Manziel, who plans on being at the game.

The Crimson Tide are sure to be ready for this game, and kickoff between the two teams is at 3:30 p.m. ET with the game on ABC.
