CBS Sports named Texas A&M offensive coordinator Collin Klein and Vanderbilt defensive coordinator Steve Gregory as its top SEC coordinators for Week 9.

Klein and Gregory were honored this week after leading their respective units in huge victories last Saturday.

There’s no bigger challenge in college football than going into Death Valley on a Saturday night and winning, but that’s what Klein, the Aggies’ 2nd-year OC, did against LSU’s defense. Not only did No. 3 Texas A&M win the game to stay unbeaten, it dominated the Tigers, piling up 49 points in the 49-25 victory, including 35 straight points in the 2nd half after the Aggies trailed 18-14 at halftime.

Klein’s offense rolled up 426 yards of total offense against LSU, including 224 on the ground, leaving no doubt for the national TV audience on ABC.

Meanwhile, Gregory’s Vanderbilt defense was as stingy as ever in last Saturday’s 17-10 home victory over Mizzou. With the Commodores’ offense struggling to score points, the Vandy defense was forced to come up huge and it did, holding the high-octane Tigers to a season-low 10 points.

Gregory’s defense was the focal point of a victory that improved Vandy to 7-1 and helped the Commodores rise to No. 9 in the latest AP Poll.
