Talking season is nearly over in college football, as toe will finally meet leather this weekend following months of off-field tension and drama.
But with the respective members of the SEC having formally concluded their quarterback competitions this week, CBS Sports opted to throw one more ranking into the mix.
The media outlet went 1-16 in listing the conference’s top signal-callers, and the results are as follows:

With Trinidad Chambliss and Arch Manning headlining, 5 of the top 6 ranked quarterbacks are returning starters for their team, while only 3 total players have stayed put behind them.
Sam Leavitt of LSU is the highest-ranked transfer at No. 3, with Auburn’s Byrum Brown following later at No. 8. Of the quarterbacks who did not start at all last season, Alabama’s Keelon Russell (No. 7) is the top-ranked.
It is also worth noting that Tennessee’s Faizon Brandon, despite having never taken a collegiate snap, is ranked at No. 10 ahead of the likes of Kamario Taylor (Mississippi State), Aaron Philo (Florida), KJ Jackson (Arkansas) and Austin Simmons (Ole Miss), all of whom have started for major programs in their careers.
