CBS Sports’ way-too-early 2027 NFL mock draft features 6 SEC players selected in top 10
The 2026 NFL Draft just wrapped up on Saturday afternoon, when the Denver Broncos selected linebacker Red Murdock as Mr. Irrelevant. You may never have watched Murdock play a down of college football, but you’ve definitely seen the guys in the top 10 of CBS Sports’ way-to-early 2027 NFL mock draft.
This mock, produced by CBS Sports’ Cooper Petagna, is SEC-heavy (are we really surprised?). Six of Petagna’s first 8 selections are SEC players. Four of those choices hail from Texas:
- No. 1: New York Jets – QB Arch Manning (Texas)
- No. 2: Arizona Cardinals – QB Dante Moore (Oregon)
- No. 3: Miami Dolphins – WR Jeremiah Smith (Ohio State)
- No. 4: Cleveland Browns – EDGE Colin Simmons (Texas)
- No. 5: Tennessee Titans – CB Leonard Moore (Notre Dame)
- No. 6: Las Vegas Raiders – WR Cam Coleman (Texas)
- No. 7: New Orleans Saints – EDGE Dylan Stewart (South Carolina)
- No. 8: Pittsburgh Steelers – QB Brennan Sorsby (Texas Tech)
- No. 9: Carolina Panthers – TE Trey’Dez Green (LSU)
- No. 10: Atlanta Falcons – OT Trevor Goosby (Texas)
Petagna also has Georgia cornerback Ellis Robinson IV going No. 11 overall to the New York Giants, and LSU offensive tackle Jordan Seaton going to the Minnesota Vikings with the No. 12 pick. In total, Petagna projects 17 SEC players to be first-round selections in next year’s draft. If that’s any indication of what’s to come for the conference in the 2026 season, we’ll all be in for a massive treat.
