CFB insider shares intel on Michael Fasusi, Jake Maikkula for Michigan game

The No. 10-ranked Oklahoma Sooners are hitting the road in Week 2 for a massive SEC vs. Big Ten matchup in The Big House against the Michigan Wolverines, a game that is sure to have massive College Football Playoff implications for both sides.
One of the biggest storylines leading up to kickoff all week for the Sooners has been the status of several key pieces along the offensive line, including star center Jake Maikkula and left tackle Michael Fasusi.
Oklahoma got some much needed clarity on both players Friday afternoon, with ESPN insider Pete Thamel reporting that Maikkula is set to return against the Wolverines, while Fasusi will be sidelined with a lingering shoulder injury he aggravated during Week 1.

Maikkula, who was the starting center for Oklahoma for all of 2025, missed the Sooners’ Week 1 showdown against UTEP, and Fasusi exited the game after aggravating a shoulder injury in the first quarter.
Now, sophomore Ryan Fodje, who also missed Week 1 with injury, is expected to slide over to left tackle to take Fasusi’s spot. At the same time, freshman Noah Best, who held down the starting center role in Maikkula’s stead last Saturday, will kick over to his original right guard position.
There are clearly a ton of moving parts along the offensive front for head coach Brent Venables, and it will be interesting to see how the line holds up for the Sooners as they head into Ann Arbor.
