That’s right. We’re writing about ACC golf on a Tuesday in February.
Even if you don’t watch golf, there’s a good chance you’ll recognize the name Tiger Woods. On Tuesday, Charlie Woods – Tiger’s son – announced that he has committed to play golf at Florida State. Woods posted his commitment on Instagram.
Woods hails from The Benjamin School in North Palm Beach, Florida, and is a top member of the Class of 2027. Woods aided The Benjamin School in securing a pair of Class A state championships in 2023 and 2025, while also leading the Buccaneers to a 3rd-place finish in 2024. He also ranked in the top 10 in his class in the AJGA (American Junior Golf Association) standings in December, though he is currently ranked No. 21.
Of course, Woods’ commitment means he’ll be staying in the Sunshine state, though he’ll be travelling a little further north. Notably, Woods decided not to commit to his father’s college, Stanford – despite having offers from just about every collegiate golf team in America.
Florida State golf is coached Trey Jones, who’s led FSU to a NCAA Golf Championship appearance across 5 straight seasons. The Seminoles finished as the 2024 national runner-up
