Chicago Bears coach Matt Nagy was fired following the 2021 season, leaving the team on the hunt for a new head coach.

On Thursday, they reportedly made their decision, hiring a former Mizzou defensive coordinator who worked under Gary Pinkel.

Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Bears are hiring Indianapolis Colts DC Matt Eberflus as their next head coach:

Eberflus was Mizzou’s defensive coordinator from 2001 to 2008 before leaving to become the Cleveland Browns’ linebackers coach. He’s been in the NFL ranks ever since, working for the Browns and the Dallas Cowboys before taking over as the Colts’ defensive coordinator in 2018.

This will be his first head coaching gig at any level.
