Chris Jans, Mississippi State hoops HC, receives contract extension after strong Year 1

Chris Jans received a contract extension to be Mississippi State’s head basketball coach through the 2026-27 season.
This is not exactly a surprise. Jans, who used to coach new Mexico State, did very well in Year 1, leading the Bulldogs to the NCAA Tournament with a 21-13 record. The Bulldogs scored big wins over the likes of Marquette, Arkansas, Texas A&M and TCU.
Jans’ contract includes a base salary of $3.2 million annually starting next season. He’ll get an annual increase with some performance-based incentives, according to CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein.

Jans’ original contract was through the 2025 season and included a base salary of $2.4 million and $650,000 in annual incentives.
Jans has reached 4 of the last 5 NCAA Tournaments as a DI head coach and 2 straight. Can he make it 3 straight in 2024?
