Chris ‘The Bear’ Fallica explains why Jayden Daniels is the clear Heisman Trophy choice

Chris “The Bear” Fallica went on the Joel Klatt Show on Friday and shared his thoughts on the Heisman Trophy debate.

LSU’s Jayden Daniels and Oregon’s Bo Nix are widely considered to be the front-runners for that honor. However, Fallica said he believes Daniels is the clear choice.

“I don’t know what we’re doing if Jayden Daniels doesn’t win the Heisman Trophy,” Fallica said. “He’s averaging more yards per game than 80 teams in the country and he’s accounted for more touchdowns than 90.”

LSU’s 9-3 record is a potential problem for Daniels’ case. There’s only been 12 other Heisman Trophy winners in history who have lost 3+ games in the regular season, and none since Lamar Jackson in 2016.

However, Fallica points out that LSU could be 10-2 this season if Malik Nabers had found a way to catch a crucial touchdown late in the game vs. Ole Miss.

“And we’re not having this conversation if Nabers catches that ball in the end zone against Ole Miss that went off his fingers,” Fallica said. “A 10-2 LSU I think would be viewed differently than a 9-3 LSU.”

Fallica added that he believes Nix would be a “deserving” winner, but Daniels has been the “most outstanding” player in college football this season by his criteria. Here are his full thoughts on the Heisman Trophy race from his appearance on the Joel Klatt show:

Daniels has 3,812 passing yards and 40 passing touchdowns so far this season. He’s also rushed for 1,134 yards and 10 more scores on the ground.

Nix will have the last chance to impress the Heisman Trophy voting body, however. Nix and Oregon will face No. 3 Washington on Friday night in the Pac-12 Championship Game.
