Not many people can claim victories over Alabama and Florida State in the same year, but that’s exactly what coach Dabo Swinney’s Clemson Tigers did in 2016 en route to a national title.
Now, as Swinney’s squad prepares for the 2017 season, he admitted he’ll have an eye on the Alabama-Florida State Week 1 showdown in Atlanta.
During an ACC conference call on Wednesday, Swinney said he thinks the Week 1 showdown will be something to see (via AL.com):
“[Florida State is] similar to Alabama,” he said. “Alabama’s not going to give you anything. You have to earn it. They’re going to be able to match up with you. They’re going to be fast just like you’re going to be fast. So that ought to be a heck of a ballgame.”
Indeed, most eyes from around the college football world will be trained on the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday night for the marquee matchup between the Crimson Tide and the Seminoles in what could be a national title preview.
The game kicks off at 8 p.m. Eastern time and can be seen on ABC.
