Colin Simmons has one game circled already. The Texas standout defender sent a message to Ohio State as the Longhorns and Buckeyes gear up for a Week 2 showdown in Austin.

“We’re coming. There’s business to be taken care of,” Simmons said during a conversation with Pete Nakos of On3.

The Buckeyes and Longhorns opened the 2025 season in Columbus. Ryan Day’s team managed a 14-7 victory over Steve Sarkisian‘s squad.

While much was made of Arch Manning’s performance in that game, it was also a quiet day for Simmons in the box score. Simmons had 2 total tackles in the game. He did not have any sacks or other tackles for loss.

Texas bounced back from the Ohio State loss, and Simmons went on to have a strong season. The Longhorn edge defender finished 2025 with an SEC-leading 12 sacks. He had 43 total tackles, with 15.5 for loss. Simmons added 15 QB hurries, 3 forced fumbles and 2 pass breakups to his 2025 stats.

It was the first of 12 wins for Ohio State. The Buckeyes posted a 12-0 regular-season record, but fell to Indiana in the Big Ten Championship Game and Miami in the College Football Playoff.

Texas went 9-3 on the season, missing the SEC Championship Game and College Football Playoff. The Longhorns ended the season with a win over Michigan in the Citrus Bowl.

While this year’s game may not quite have the hype of last year’s Week 1 CFP rematch, the Week 2 clash is sure to be in the national spotlight. We’ll see if Simmons and the Longhorns take care of business.
