College basketball insider Jon Rothstein followed Kentucky’s recent trip to the Bahamas closely.
The Wildcats beat the Dominican Republic National Select Team 108-56 on Aug. 10. Then, they took down Tec De Monterrey 102-40 on Aug. 11. Following a day off, the Wildcats scored a 118-56 win over Carleton University on Aug. 13 and finished the trip with a 98-74 victory over The Bahamas National Select Team on Aug. 14.
Rothstein tweeted after Sunday’s game that he’s taking results from the Bahamas trip with a grain of salt, but added that he thinks Jacob Toppin is in line for a breakout year:
ALWAYS take stats and results from foreign tours with a grain of salt, but I learned this from watching Kentucky in the Bahamas: Jacob Toppin NEEDS to be at the 4 during the upcoming season. Total mismatch. Breakout year ahead.

Toppin finished the Bahamas trip with a 20-point, 5-rebound effort on Sunday and threw down a few highlight-reel dunks during the 4-game stretch, too.
Can he crack the starting 5 for a team that is projected to earn a 1-seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament? We’ll see how things progress for Toppin once he gets back to Lexington!
