College football fan launches petition to ‘stop FOX Big Noon Kickoff’

One college football fan is fed up with the FOX “Big Noon Kickoff” format — and they are not the only one.
On Monday, the network began revealing kickoff times for some of the prominent games in the 2025 college football season. That includes the season opener between Ohio State and Texas, a likely top-5 showdown that has received the Big Noon treatment.
That means the game will kick off at 12 pm ET, something Ohio State fans know all too well. The Buckeyes ended the 2024 season with 6 straight kickoffs at 12 pm ET, drawing some heated reactions from fans at the impact of Big Noon Kickoff on the kickoff times.
With that in mind, an individual identified as “Buckeye Blitz” has started a petition on Change.org to “STOP FOX BIG NOON KICKOFF!” Here is what the petition says about the issue:
Fox Big Noon Kickoff has been ruining marquee matchups for too long. Today, 5/12/25, FOX announced that Texas at Ohio State, the season-opener for both teams on August 30, will kickoff at Noon. This has gone TOO FAR. A top 5 matchup should NEVER kickoff at noon.
As of this writing, there are 300 verified signatures on the petition. However, it’s unlikely any number of signatures is going to get FOX to change its current format.
Last season, FOX broadcaster Joel Klatt pushed back at the critics of the format, telling fans, “that’s the way the cookie crumbles” and that this is the format FOX has determined for the premier broadcasts they own. “Let’s maybe get used to it,” Klatt concluded to the critics.
Based on recent seasons, it’s clear the system has been financially beneficial for FOX, especially as the network employed Michigan and Ohio State in the time slot throughout national title runs in each of the past 2 seasons. However, it doesn’t mean the format is a long-term net positive for the college football experience, and many fans are still hoping to see a change.
