Texas State will part ways with Jake Spavital after 4 seasons, per a report from FootballScoop.com.

Spavital was hired as the head coach of the Bobcats prior to the 2019 season after 2 years as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at West Virginia. However, he struggled to a 13-35 overall record, including a 9-23 mark in the Sun Belt.

Prior to his stint at West Virginia — his 2nd after serving as the Mountaineers’ quarterbacks coach in 2011 and 2012 — he was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Cal in 2016. That followed 3 seasons on the Texas A&M sideline in the same position, with his first season (2013) as co-OC before becoming the program’s sole OC a season later.

Spavital also served as a quality control coach at Tulsa and was a graduate assistant at both Houston and Oklahoma State before his first spell at West Virginia.
