College Football Playoff rankings, Nov. 28: Fifth top 25 of 2023 season released

The fifth College Football Playoff rankings of the 2023 season were released on Tuesday night on ESPN.

Committee chair Boo Corrigan, athletic director at NC State, is the face of the group again this season, the tenth of the 4-team CFP format.

Selection committee members met in person on Mondays and Tuesdays ahead of weekly rankings reveals on ESPN throughout the 2023 season. This is the last Tuesday reveal of the year, as the final CFP rankings will be unveiled on Selection Day, Sunday, Dec. 3.

The 2023-24 College Football Playoff will feature Jan. 1 semifinal games at the Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl. The CFP National Championship Game is set to be played in Houston on Jan. 8.

Ohio State’s new ranking was the biggest storyline of Tuesday night. The Buckeyes are no longer among the unbeatens after losing The Game to Michigan. OSU is the only team ranked in the top 8 not playing during conference championship weekend.

In Atlanta, it’s another round of Georgia vs. Alabama. The Bulldogs have gone 12-0 as 2-time defending national championships, while the Crimson Time went undefeated in SEC play after tripping up against a Texas team also fighting for a CFP spot.
