College football world is in love with Pudge, Bowling Green’s sideline cat
Bo Pelini’s cat walked so Pudge could soar.
On Thursday night, during its season-opening 26-7 win over Lafayette, Bowling Green introduced the college football world to its “morale booster” for the 2025 season — a 3-year-old exotic shorthair cat named Pudge. Unsurprisingly, Pudge became an instant celebrity.
Pudge belongs to George Carlson, Bowling Green’s long snapper. After a fall camp injury, Carlson first brought Pudge into the locker room to boost the mood and things just clicked. Pudge became a mainstay in the football facility, got his own jersey, and turned into a TikTok sensation.
According to a segment on Good Morning America earlier this week, Bowling Green has even designed “Pudge the Cat” t-shirts to sell this season.
Head coach Eddie George laughed when asked about Pudge earlier this week, saying he is allergic to cats, but his wife loves Pudge so the cat has “become a part of the family.”
In front of the broader college football audience on Thursday night, Pudge’s celebrity status grew further.
Bowling Green is 1-0 to begin the new season, so a College Football Playoff run is still very much on the table for the Falcons. We need more Pudge content. We need all the Pudge content.
Bowling Green seems happy to oblige.
