In his decorated Utah career, Smith was a first-team All-American and a Heisman Trophy finalist in 2004. He finished his collegiate career with 5,203 passing yards and 47 touchdowns, adding 1,072 rushing yards and 15 rushing scores. Smith was a two-time All-Mountain West selection, earning MWC Offensive Player of the Year and National Player of the Year by Sports Illustrated in his final season with the Utes. In 2024, Smith was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.
After Utah, Smith was a first-round NFL Draft pick in 2005. His rehabilitation from a life-threatening leg injury earned him NFL Comeback Player of the Year in 2020. He was the NFL’s passer rating leader in 2017 and made the Pro Bowl 3 times (2013, ’16, ’17).
Smith became a broadcaster after his playing career, joining ESPN as an NFL analyst. On Saturday, he’ll sit at the GameDay desk with Rece Davis, Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee, Nick Saban and Kirk Herbstreit to pick the biggest games of Week 10.
