Criticizing the broadcasters: Fans ‘diss-robe’ Danielson & more

Gary Danielson usually generates reactions for what he says on the air. During last Saturdayโ€™s Alabama-Tennessee game at Neyland Stadium, the CBS Sports analyst was all the rage on social media for what he wore.

While interviewing Peyton Manning during the broadcast, Danielson wore a robe to pay tribute to the Vols’ legend, who has been seen recently in several DirecTV commercials wearing a bathrobe while trying to cope with not playing football on Sundays. Manning retired in March after winning Super Bowl 50 with the Denver Broncos.

Weโ€™re not sure if Mr. Blackwell or if Tim Gunn of โ€œProject Runwayโ€ had anything to say about Danielsonโ€™s fashion choice. Letโ€™s just say it generated quite a frenzy on Twitter:

No laughing matter for some

Meanwhile, as the second quarter was coming to a close, Alabama was trying to get into position for a first half-ending field goal. As Crimson Tide QB Jalen Hurts scrambled for a first down, it initially appeared that the clock ran out.

But after the officials reviewed the play, they put a couple seconds back on the clock, which allowed Adam Griffith to try a 37-yard attempt, which he missed. However, upon remembering that the Crimson Tide was famously burned in the 2013 Iron Bowl when a second was added to the clock before Auburnโ€™s Chris Davis pulled off his incredible Kick-Six following another Griffith miss, Danielson and broadcasting partner Verne Lundquist laughed, which didnโ€™t sit well with some Alabama fans:

Tigers fans roar at Palmer

And finally, this space is usually good for at least one Brent Musburger reference. But thatโ€™s not the case this week.

Musburger and analyst Jesse Palmer called Floridaโ€™s 40-14 victory over Missouri last Saturday on SEC Network. We don’t know if Palmerโ€™s background as a former Gator QB was the reason, but some Tigers fans werenโ€™t pleased with his work:
