Dallas Wilson made his long awaited debut for the Florida Gators on Saturday as they hosted the Texas Longhorns at the Swamp.
Florida entered Saturday on a three-game losing streak, and were desperate for a win. The Gators offense had struggled mightily during the team’s losing streak, but came to life against one of the best defenses in all of college football.
With the Gators up 22-14 in the third quarter, Wilson electrified the fans in the Swamp, as he took a catch down the sidelines 55 yards to extend the lead to 15 points.
Wilson was expected to be a huge part of the Florida offense, but he suffered an injury to his left foot in August. The game against the Longhorns was the first game of his career, and he showed how important he is to the Gators and quarterback DJ Lagway.
He also caught a touchdown in the second quarter from Lagway, who looked like a completely different quarterback from the guy who had played the last couple of weeks.
The game against Texas was the third game in a stretch of four extremely difficult games. The Gators will be in action on Oct. 11 on the road against Texas A&M.
