Dan Lanning to reportedly receive $2 million raise with new contract

Dan Lanning is reportedly getting a notable bump in pay with a new deal at Oregon.
Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports reports that Oregon and Lanning have agreed to an amended 6-year contract that increases Lanning’s annual pay by $2 million. Lanning is set to make nearly $11 million annually on the new deal, putting his salary in the top-5 nationally among college football head coaches.

The amended deal does not change Lanning’s buyout, per Dellenger. He would owe the program $20 million if he left the Ducks for another job.
Lanning’s buyout in the amended contract remains unchanged from the previous deal. If he leaves, he owes $20 million. The new amendment needs board approval Friday.

Lanning has gone 35-6 in three seasons since AD Rob Mullens hired him as a first-time head coach in his mid-30s.
Lanning, 38, took the Oregon head coaching job, his first, ahead of the 2022 season after previously serving as an assistant at Alabama (2015), Memphis (2016-17) and Georgia (2018-21). In 3 seasons, Lanning is 35-6, guiding Oregon to a Big Ten championship and College Football Playoff berth in 2024.
