The Cincinnati Bengals are 2-0 and leading the way in the AFC North, but star QB Joe Burrow suffered a toe injury against the Jacksonville Jaguars that is expected to keep him sidelined for at least three months.

Now, the Bengals’ season is hanging in the balance without the former LSU Heisman Trophy winner. ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky compared Burrow’s career trajectory to Andrew Luck’s, who was limited to only 6 seasons due to injuries.

“It should impact all of the NFL, because it feels like Joe Burrow is trending toward becoming this generation’s Andrew Luck in a way,” Orlovsky said Monday. “The conversation around Andrew was all the hits. And through those first five or six seasons .. look at them. Look how much they’re getting hit in relation to how often they’re dropping back, how many sacks they’re taking, and then the percent of pressure that they’re dealing under.”

Luck stepped away from football at just 29 years old, which has suddenly sparked concern for Burrow (28) once again. The parallels to Luck’s curtailed NFL career are starting to reenter the picture, especially for Bengals fans and the Cincinnati organization.
