Wake Up Barstool is off with a bang, as Dave Portnoy claims he’d be one of the great offensive minds in the history of the game and that he is smarter than 99% of play-callers.
Fox Sports has launched a new FS1 daily studio show called Wake Up Barstool. It’s a two-hour daily show set to feature Portnoy, Dan “Big Cat” Katz, Eric Sollenberger, more commonly known as “PFT Commenter,” and more in a rotating cast of fan-favorite personalities. The show is designed to bring Barstool’s mix of unfiltered voices, personalities, and passionate sports talk.
Sept. 2 was the debut episode, and we already have quite the stance coming from Portnoy.
I think I’d be one of the great offensive minds in the history of the game,” Portnoy said. “I honestly think play-calling, I’m smarter than 99% of the play-callers.
Portnoy went on to clarify that he isn’t doing the X’s and O’s or pulling guards, but instead would be better at knowing which plays to call in the flow of the game.
It’s 3rd and 7, and I can tell the flow of this game, and I know they’re going to blitz, and I know if we run a little draw play, it’s going to pop for 10 yards,” Portnoy said.
It didn’t end there. Portnoy continued saying that a lot of the play callers have “dumps in their pants calling plays.” He claimed they were too nervous to mess up to call plays outside of the box.
