Daymion Sanford expected to miss ‘part of the season’ with injury, per report
Texas A&M linebacker Daymion Sanford suffered a significant leg injury during the Aggies’ spring game last weekend. According to new reports on Friday afternoon, Sanford may miss the start of the regular season as he recovers.
That news was shared by CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz, who noted that Sanford underwent surgery this week but did not specify the injury beyond calling it a “lower leg” repair. Zenitz’s report says the “belief” in College Station is that Sanford will “likely miss at least part of the season.”
If Sanford does miss significant game time, it would be a devastating blow for the Aggies’ postseason aspirations in 2026. Sanford was voted a team captain during spring camp and was expected to be the Aggies’ top linebacker in 2026.

Last season, Sanford recorded 57 tackles and led a Texas A&M defense that held opponents to 5.08 yards per play (34th nationally). Now entering Year 3 under Mike Elko, Texas A&M is hoping to get back to the College Football Playoff and contend for the National Championship this upcoming season.
It’s worth noting that Texas A&M has not issued an official update on Sanford’s status. A program spokesman told On3’s Carter Karels that any timelines regrading Sanford’s return are “speculation” at this time.
