Deion Sanders reveals ‘a few’ Colorado players ‘not on the team anymore’ after Northwestern game

Deion Sanders and Colorado suffered a humiliating loss at Northwestern on Saturday, falling 41-7 to 1-1 on the season.
The fact that the Buffaloes lost so heavily is one thing. A blowout loss after some of the comments players made about the Wildcats’ temporary venue was quite another. And if that wasn’t enough, other players were caught joking around afterwards.
That caught the ire of their head coach, and he took action.
“A few guys are not on the team anymore. Just so you know,” Sanders said on Tuesday.
We don’t know the number or identity of the players who were removed. Sanders, though, was crystal clear about his feelings, suggesting that he was too lax in 2025 when he shouldn’t have been.
“I’m one the most loving and giving and forgiving men you could ever meet, but when you start [having] conduct detrimental to the team, you don’t care about the team, you care about you, I have a problem with that,” Sanders said, according to ESPN. “A year ago, I didn’t put my foot down in it enough. It lingered a little bit. Then, it imploded. I’m not doing that anymore.”
We’ll see if that ends up being a wake-up call for the Buffs. After a 4-8 record in 2023, Colorado improved to 9-4 in 2024 before regressing to a 3-9 mark in 2025.
