DeMarco Murray was recently linked to a high-profile opening, but the Oklahoma great is expected to stay on staff with the Sooners.
According to On3’s Pete Nakos, the current expectation is that Murray will stay at OU after Penn State made a strong pitch. The Nittany Lions recently lost running backs coach Ja’Juan Seider to Notre Dame.
Murray had a standout career as an Oklahoma player from 2006-10. He was named first-team All-Big 12 in 2008 and ’10, earning second-team all-conference honors in 2009. In his Oklahoma career, Murray set records for all-time leader in touchdowns (65) and all-purpose yards (6,718).
Murray played professionally from 2011-17. He was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys with the No. 71 overall pick in 201l. He later had stops with the Philadelphia Eagles (2015) and Tennessee Titans (2016-17). In 2014, his last season with the Cowboys, Murray was named first-team All-Pro and the NFL Offensive Player of the Year.
After his playing career, Murray got into coaching, joinining the Arizona staff as running backs coach in 2019. A year later, he returned to OU in the same position. Murray remained on staff after the coaching staff and entering his fourth year with Brent Venables.
