San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Demarcus Robinson, a former Florida player, is receiving a three-game suspension for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy, as confirmed by head coach Kyle Shanahan to KNBR.
The 30-year-old Robinson joined the 49ers in March and pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor DUI charge in July, which resulted in 3 years of probation.
Shanahan explained that an appeal is coming for Robinson but is preparing for this suspension to be served for the full amount of games.
“You can always appeal it so we’ll hope for the best on that but (3 weeks) is what we’re planning for,” Shanahan said.
The 6-foot-1 Robinson is going into his 10th pro season after being selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 4th round of the 2016 NFL Draft. The Georgia native played on the Chiefs until 2021, and has also been on the Las Vegas Raiders (2022), Baltimore Ravens (2022), and most recently the Los Angeles Rams (2023-24). Robinson has tallied 250 receptions for 3,013 yards and 27 touchdowns in the NFL.
Robinson spent 3 seasons at Florida from 2013-15. In 27 games with the Gators, he amassed 105 receptions for 1,353 yards and 9 touchdowns.
